Course Details:
The Code of Ethics and Good Practice for Children's Sport in Ireland is the first All Ireland guideline for sporting bodies, developed by the Irish Sports Council & the Sports Council for Northern Ireland. The aim of the Code is to ensure that there is widespread good practice at all levels and that clubs have a clear direction in the policy and procedures that they will be expected to adopt.
It is also designed to provide guidance for leaders working with young people in the sports sector. It outlines issues that need to be addressed to maintain and enhance an enjoyable approach to sports. The principles stated in the Code are essential for the delivery of quality leadership sport programmes children. A central goal for all those involved in sport for young people is to provide a safe, positive and nurturing environment where children can develop and enhance their physical and social skills.
The course is aimed at Sports Leaders, Children’s Officers, Parents & anyone working with young people in sport.
The Child Welfare & Protection in Sports Awareness Training will enable Children’s Officers/Sports Leaders to:
- Implement best practice in protecting the welfare of participants.
- Create a child-centred environment within the sports club.
- List categories of abuse and some indicators associated with abuse.
- Make appropriate response to a disclosure.
- Make a report to designated officer or appropriate Statutory Authorities.
