The Code of Ethics and Good Practice for Children's Sport in Ireland is the
first All Ireland guideline for sporting bodies, developed by the Irish Sports
Council and the Sports Council for Northern Ireland. The aim of the Code is to
ensure that there is widespread good practice at all levels and that clubs have
a clear direction in the policy and procedures that they will be expected to
adopt.
It is also designed to provide guidance for leaders working with young people in
the sports sector. It outlines issues that need to be addressed to maintain and
enhance an enjoyable approach to sports. The principles stated in the Code are
essential for the delivery of quality leadership sport programmes children. A
central goal for all those involved in sport for young people is to provide a
safe, positive and nurturing environment where children can develop and enhance
their physical and social skills.
The course is aimed at Sports Leaders, Children’s Officers, Parents and anyone
working with young people in sport.

Children’s Officers/Sports Leaders to:
- Implement best practice in protecting the welfare of participants
- Create a child-centered environment within the sports club
